Agra Nagar Nigam provides and facilitates several services for the citizens of Agra city. The record of birth and death rates with Municipal Corporation helps a citizen in different ways. With the help of birth or death certificate, one can get numerous job opportunities or can easily make their passport and can even claim the deceased bank savings. Apart from this aspect of MC’s service, development plans are meant to carve out a better and planned city.

E-governance in municipalities focuses on improving a national element of citizen services through defining service levels and outcomes; facilitating interactive interaction between local government, citizens and other stakeholders; improving quality of internal operation of local government; enhancing transparency and accountability; enhancing citizen interface and improving service delivery to citizens.

The Twelfth Schedule to the Constitution lists the subjects that municipal corporations are responsible for. Corporations may be entrusted to perform functions and implement schemes including those in relation to the matters listed in the Twelfth Schedule.

– Provision of urban amenities and facilities such as parks, gardens, playgrounds.
– Promotion of cultural, educational and aesthetic aspects.
– Burials and burial grounds; cremations, cremation grounds and electric crematoriums.
– Cattle pounds; prevention of cruelty to animals.
– Vital statistics including registration of births and deaths.
– Public amenities including street lighting, parking lots, bus stops and public conveniences.
